A MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN OF STUDENT AFFAIRS
Dear Students:
Welcome to the new academic year! Because Florida Keys
Community College’s first priority is you, we have designed
this Handbook to help you successfully navigate your way
through college. It offers information on academic advising,
College services and resources, campus contacts, and even
provides a place to keep your class schedule organized.
Every year FKCC revises the Student Handbook to provide the most up-to-date
reference for students. College policies most relevant to students are listed in
this Handbook, but due to space limitations, these policies and supplemental
information are printed in full on our Student Handbook webpage (
.
fkcc.edu/current-students/fkcc-student-handbook.da).
It is the College’s belief that the contents of this Handbook will enhance your
educational experiences because they highlight the rules and regulations which
govern the College community. This Handbook is also designed to encourage you
to take responsibility for your educational experience and make sure that you:
Maintain contact with your advisor throughout the semester
Assess your interests, abilities and needs and discuss these with your
advisor
Reference this Handbook and College Catalog to become
knowledgeable of academic requirements, policies, and procedures
Familiarize yourself with important dates (registration, drop/add,
graduation, etc.) as listed on the Academic Calendar
Discuss your selection of courses with your advisor
Get involved in student activities and the student government
association
Remember that FKCC faculty and staff are committed to providing personalized
services to help you reach your educational goals. If you have a question or are
unsure about where to go for general assistance, please start by visiting us in the
Student Affairs Division!
