Marine/Aquatic Biology

Where the sea is our school

Our vision at Florida Keys Community College (FKCC) is to become a world leader in education and field research in the discipline of marine/aquatic biology. The unique geographic location of FKCC makes us the logical and ideal choice for all things associated with tropical marine studies. The Florida Keys are home to multiple commercial and recreational fisheries, many marine protected areas, one of the largest living coral communities, and more aquaculture/mariculture (i.e. the farming of freshwater and marine organisms) per square mile than any other location in the continental United States. Florida Keys Community College presently offers an Associate in Arts degree in the concentration of marine/aquatic biology (AA Requirements).  Our vision for the future is the development of a four year undergraduate program in marine/aquatic biology that will rival some of the most prestigious programs in the US and globally. This program will focus on three degree tracks that will result in Bachelor of Science degrees in the disciplines of:

Fisheries Science

Aquaculture/Mariculture

Ecology/Conservation
