Library cards may be obtained by visiting the library.  Students not in the area may contact the library @ library@fkcc.edu or by phone  305-809-3194  to obtain their Borrower ID number.  The Borrower ID number on your library card is used to check out books, access the library databases, read eBooks, request items from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan (ILL), and to downloand audio books from the Overdrive service.

LINCCWEB 2.0 is our library's online catalog.  It contains items owned by our library, and items held at other community colleges.

Find Scholarly Journals, Magazines, eBooks, News and Media

Access our Databases with your Borrower ID (your library card number) and PIN (the last 4-digits of your ss#) to locate a wealth of full text information.

Renew Books

Books may be renewed by visiting the library, calling, email, or by logging into "My Account" services located on the LINCCWEB page.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) /Reciprocal Borrowing

What is Interlibrary Loan ( ILL )?
Interlibrary Loan is a service provided to borrow books and acquire photocopies of journal/newspaper articles from other institutions if the FKCC library is unable to meet your needs. Before requesting materials from another library, please check to see if we own the book or article here at FKCC.

All Interlibrary Loan materials should be physically be returned to the library, NOT placed in the book drop.

Please be advised that some libraries do charge to lend their materials. These charges will be the patron's responsibility. The patron will be contacted if a lender is charging for requested material.  Only 5 items can be obtained per patron at any one time.

The Interlibrary Loan Process:

Requesting books and AV materials

  1. Start at the LINCCWeb 2.0 Catalog
  2. Enter your search criteria
  3. Change college field to "All Community Colleges"
  4. Select format (audio/visual, books, etc.)
  5. Click "Search"
  6. Select desired material by clicking on the college
  7. Select "Request"
  8. Choose your college, enter Borrower ID (your library card #) and PIN (the last 4 digits of your ss#)
  9. Complete request form and submit

Requesting Articles
If an article is not available in full text through a database, your options vary according to what database you are using, but you can try these steps:

  1. Click the SFX link to see if we own the magazine in the library, or if it is available in full text from another database.
  2. If it is not, use the ILL link from the database that you are searching.
  3. Fill out the online form and indicate the center to which you wish the article delivered.

If you still cannot find the materials for which you're looking, please send a complete citation to Steven Parker, our Interlibrary Loan Specialist, via email or by phone ( 305/809-3540 ).

Pick Up
Waiting periods vary for items coming from other institutions (books and AV material: 5-10 days, articles: 1-10 days). We will contact you when we receive the item you've requested. Please pick up your item in a timely manner.

Return or Renew Books
Book loan period and policy of the lending library is followed. Please return on-time. If ILL book does NOT say "No Renewal" there is a chance the lending library will renew.

Services for Faculty & Staff

Blog

The library has a blog for our administration faculty and staff called Higher Education News (http://fkcchigherednews.blogspot.com).  Our goal is to provide you with the latest news in education in community colleges and beyond.  You will find daily RSS feeds from the Chronicle of Higher Education, links to educational news from major newspapers, as well as links to specialty e-newspapers, and more.

Collection Development

We welcome your suggestions for the purchase of books, journals, databases, videos, and other materials in support of your curriculum. We also need your input in weeding the collection to ensure the currency and quality of our collections.

Computer Lab

We have two computer labs. One of our computer labs is available for instruction. You can reserve this for instruction or lab work for your class. We also have 2 study rooms which are available for study groups.

Course Reserves

It is encouraged that textbooks are available in the library for your students.  Course reading material can be brought to the library and added to our reserves collection.  You can also select library materials (books and/ or audio visuals) and have them placed on reserve.  The course reserves catalog can be accessed from LINCCWeb2.0

Embedded Librarian

The embedded librarian is a new concept in the library community. It is when faculty and librarians partner in online courses to provide assistance with research and answer information literacy questions.  We can be part of a discussion or be a guest in your course to assist with access to our databases, research, and citation style with APA, MLA, or Chicago format.

Faculty Evaluation of Library Services

Your suggestions are always welcome.
