On behalf of the Florida Keys Community College Board of Trustees, it’s my pleasure to welcome and thank you for your interest in our search for the sixth president of the southernmost community college in the continental United States.
I must first commend and thank our current President, Dr. Larry Tyree. We are most fortunate to have had a veteran leader of such high caliber, integrity and regard come to our college, initially on an interim basis, and then subsequently agree to extend his initial interim term. Dr. Tyree has led the institution to an unprecedented level of strength and excellence. While it is with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to Dr. Tyree, we are happy that it is on a high note that the torch will be passed to the next leader to build on the superb foundation Dr. Tyree has helped to create.
In the coming months, an 11-member Presidential Search Committee, chaired by Trustee Dr. Antoinette Martin, will review applicants and identify a pool of finalists. From that pool, my fellow trustees and I will interview and, ultimately, select the college’s next president. We anticipate that the new president will be selected in April for a July 1 start date.
Both the Board of Trustees and the Presidential Search Committee are committed to a fair and transparent process which will result in the college hiring the best president possible for our institution.
