Eligibility

In order to be eligible for any form of federal, state, or institutional financial aid, you must fulfill the following requirements:

  1. You must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  2. You must have a valid social security number.
  3. You must be admitted into a degree-seeking program. You may apply for aid before you are admitted but you must be admitted before aid can be awarded or disbursed to you.
  4. If you are a male of at least 18 years of age, you must be registered with selective service.
  5. To retain eligibility you must maintain satisfactory academic progress.

Estimate your potential Federal Financial Aid package by using FAFSA4Caster , an internet tool that allows students to complete an unofficial Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to their senior year of high school. It is designed to help families plan for college by getting a better idea of their expected financial contribution.

 Applying for Aid

The gateway to receiving financial aid requires completion of a FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.  If you plan to attend school during:
  • Summer 2009 - complete the 2008-2009 FAFSA using 2007 taxes
  • Fall 2009, Spring 2010, Summer 2010 – complete the 2009-2010 FAFSA using 2008 taxes

The application is a 3 step process:

1.       Apply for a PIN, This step will require you and your parents (if you are under age 24) to enter identification information such as social security # and date of birth to request your pin. The Federal government reviews this data and will return a pin to you in 2 to 3 business days via email.
2.       Next, you must complete the FAFSA application, This step will require that you refer to the prior year’s taxes to enter financial data. Please be sure to include our Federal School Code 001485.
3.       Once your application is completed, you and your parents (if you are under the age of 24) will need to sign it electronically.

Completed FAFSAs, are submitted directly to the Federal processing agency and transmitted electronically to the college within a few business days. If your application is rejected, we will notify you in writing.

If your application is selected for “VERIFICATION”, you will receive a letter in the mail requesting:
