Stafford Loan or Parent Plus Loan Instruction Sheet
In order to process a Stafford Loan request it is necessary for students to complete their 2009-2010 FAFSA application.

· If your application was flagged for verification, loans cannot be processed until verification is complete. We notify students in writing on a weekly basis if their application has been selected.
· If your application was rejected by the Central Processing System (CPD) then it must be corrected before we can process the loan application. We notify students in writing on a weekly basis if their application has been selected.
The loan process requires four very important steps to process a loan:
All steps must be completed in order to receive a Stafford loan.
Please note:
- Loan funds will not be issued to students who are enrolled in less than 6 credits.
- Book vouchers will not be issued until student is enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits.
- During a term where a student receives a Stafford Loan, if the student’s enrollment falls below 6 credits as a result of withdrawals or failure to attend class before the 60% of the term has completed, they may be required to return a portion of their loan funds for the term.
- Students wishing to pick-up their Stafford loan(s) must contact the financial aid office to receive a release form. If a student owes tuition, the student must sign over the check to the business office. If there is a negative balance the business office will send the student the balance; this process may take up to two weeks.
Step 1 – Entrance Counseling

· Once the screen paints, under Step 1, Select the state of Florida
· Click Continue
· Select our school, Florida Keys Community Collegefrom the look-up list.
· Click Continue
· You will need to provide the following:
§ Social Security number
§ Driver License
· Click I Agree
· Begin Entrance Counseling – this step will take approximately 30 minutes to complete
Step 2 – Enter Loan Application & Sign Promissory Note

· If this is a Parent Plus Loan, click on the Parent Plus tab before selecting a lender
· Scroll down to review possible lenders. FKCC does not endorse a specific. Please use the COMPARE LENDERS feature to review benefits across multiple Lenders.
· Once you have decided on a Lender, mark the check box next the Lender name.
· Click APPLY NOW to be directed to the Lender’s website where you will be directed to complete a loan application and promissory note.
· Your loan will not be processed with incomplete information on the promissory note.
